Beautiful sandy beaches renowned for its big surf. Historical landing site for both the first and second sieges of Louisbourg. There is a cairn just east of the first beach commemorating the 1758 amphibious landing of Brigadier General James Wolfe.<br /><br />The following beaches are scheduled to be supervised in 2000 by the Nova Scotia Lifeguard Service (for more information, call NSLS at 424-1442 or the Coordinator of Outdoor Recreation, 424-4642). If there are red-and-yellow flags at the beach, the supervised swimming area is between the flags; please stay within this area. At some beaches, the safe swimming area may also be marked off with buoys.
